A Look at the Smart Wagon® Sensor Ecosystem

It integrates main GPS unit & wireless sensors on the wagon according to the customer’s needs. Here’s a quick look at the core principles behind their design — because in rail freight, reliability isn’t optional.

To perform on a wagon 24/7, our sensors must withstand extreme outdoor conditions. That’s why they’re built with IP68 protection and operate within a wide –35°C to +85°C temperature range. Rain, dust, heat, or snow — they are engineered to endure it all.

Long-term autonomy is equally critical. Each sensor is powered by a 14 Ah primary Li-SOCl₂ battery, offering a minimum 10-year lifespan with no replacement needed. Zero maintenance, maximum uptime.

For seamless integration, the Bluetooth®sensors communicate via 2.4 GHz , with a range of up to 50 meters, and by default send data to the main unit every 2 seconds. These design priorities — durability, longevity, and consistent connectivity — are the foundation of our entire Smart Wagon® sensor ecosystem.
